AFP said that China's eco-city is built on land that cannot be cultivated due to salinity near the port city of Tianjin and covers an area of 30 km2. Construction will take place for at least 10 years.

Contractors hope their ecological city will be a model of a super clean, well-planned and sustainable city.

" We hope the new eco-city will impact its neighbors ," said Goh Chye Boon, executive director of Tianjin Ecological Urban Investment and Development Group.

The governments of China and Singapore work together financially and technically to build an eco-city. According to the city plan, there will be 350,000 people with comprehensive infrastructure such as schools, hospitals and commercial areas.

Many foreign companies, such as Hitachi (Japan) and Philips (Netherlands), will provide clean technology for the city. The buildings will have soundproof walls and windows with the ability to receive more light to save electricity.

Nearly two-thirds of people's waste will be recycled. 20% of electricity in the city will be produced from endless resources and does not pollute the environment such as wind and sunlight.

After being treated, the wastewater will flow along the channels to enter a lake. People can get water from the lake for use in everyday life.

' Ecological urbanism becomes a necessity because China is facing serious pollution in cities, ' said Hiroaki Suzuki, a leading expert on finance, economy and urban development. of the World Bank - comment. The World Bank is the organization that supports China's ecological urban project.

High-ranking Chinese officials hope ecological cities will help them solve the situation of urban population rising too fast. Since China implemented economic reforms more than 30 years ago, the country's urban population has increased at the highest rate in history as several hundred million people moved to the city to seek opportunities.

To meet the needs of city residents, China must invest up to $ 3.6 trillion in infrastructure, according to Chinese television.
