The National Health Commission and Family Planning Commission said a 34-year-old man in Jiangxi Province was found to be infected with the Zika virus, Reuters citing information from Xinhua News Agency on February 10. The man was isolated at a hospital in Jiangxi from February 6 and is recovering with his body temperature returning to normal, Xinhua said. However, Chinese officials say the risk of Zika virus spreading through mosquito bites in China is low due to winter cold weather .

This man infected with Zika came to Venezuela and had symptoms of fever, headache and dizziness on January 28. Later, he flew from Venezuela, transited Hong Kong and Shenzhen City (Guangdong Province, China), then returned to Jiangxi Province on February 5, according to Xinhua News Agency.

Zika is spreading rapidly in South and Central America and the Caribbean, with Brazil being the worst hit country.
The World Health Organization (WHO) declares a global emergency on January 1. Scientists are evaluating the association between Zika virus and the symptoms of newly born babies with small head disease, leading to abnormal development.
