China: The first HIV patient to recover

According to Xinhua, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Jilin Province (China) said that after 6 years of being diagnosed with a disease of the century, a farmer in this province recently went to test and have HIV-negative results.

The patient was Mr. Wen Tongcheng, a fellow from Erikin Village in Xuyen Anh District, Jilin City. In 2001, during a time of blood donation, Wen Tong Thanh was informed by the medical staff of CDC in Xuyen Anh district that he had a positive result for HIV. This result was confirmed by CDC in Jilin Province in 2003.

However, Wen Tong Cheng's test was conducted last July by the Clinical Hospital I of the University of North China in Jilin. Wen Tong Thanh decided to re-test at the National Hospital No. 1 of the Chinese Medical University and 3 other hospitals, the tests were negative for HIV. Test results conducted by CDC in Jilin Province and CDC in Xuyen Anh District later confirmed that Wen Tong was negative for HIV.

Picture 1 of China: The first HIV patient to recover Mr. Liu Bao Gu, former head of the CDC Department of HIV / AIDS in Jilin Province, confirmed that there were no problems with the previous samples and tests. However, Professor Vu Man, a member of the China Ministry of Health's HIV / AIDS Advisory Council, is skeptical about previous positive test results.

He said that after active treatment, some patients no longer have HIV but HIV antibodies still exist so the test results must still be positive. Professor Vu also said the provincial CDC error rate is lower than 0.01%.

The authorities will continue to check Wen Tong Cheng's blood samples kept by CDC in Jilin Province in 2003. If all of these tests are verified, this could be the first Chinese. have a negative test for HIV after infection with a century disease.

In 2003, Andrew Stimpson, an English young man, had a negative test after 14 months identified as HIV positive. There is still no scientific explanation about this rare case.
