On Friday 11-11, China discovered a new outbreak of bird flu in Hubei province. This is the eighth outbreak in the country within a month. Health workers are also testing a suspected patient with bird flu.
The most recent cases in Jingshan County in Hubei Province, suggest the virus is spreading. Premier Wen Jiabao in the past week warned China is facing "very serious situation".
Meanwhile, a poultry farmer in the flu outbreak in Liaoning province was hospitalized on November 12 due to a 102-degree fever and being tested for bird flu. The woman was among 121 patients in Heishan County who had a fever and had flu-like symptoms. The medical staff confirmed 120 people did not suffer from bird flu.
So far, China has had four suspected cases of bird flu and is under investigation. Officials said 2,500 poultry died of H5N1 and they were destroying 30,000 poultry to prevent the disease from spreading.
