City projects on Mars are about to be built

These cities will follow the real Mars city design in the future to test the effectiveness and adaptability of people to live in these architectures.

Growing up in a humid slum in Jakarta, Indonesia, Vera Mulyani is a very talented and passionate little girl. Poor environment cannot kill her dream of becoming an architect.

Over twenty years later, Mulyani became a great architect with extraordinary creative ability. She was dubbed the Martian architect because she spent most of her life searching for housing solutions to support and sustain human life on the red planet. After attending the prestigious École d'Architecture de Nantes academy in France and the New York Film Academy, in January 2015, she founded Mars Design City, a company specializing in consulting projects. construction of the first human self-sustaining cities on Mars.

In the next 3 years, Mars Design City aims to build a true city with 3D printing technology in the Mojave desert (USA).

The design and construction process will be officially launched at a workshop held in September this year at the University of Southern California. This workshop will be where engineers, designers and architects from around the world will discuss important characteristics of the first cities on Mars. Mulyani said the first goal is to establish a facility that can accommodate at least four people who are able to live and develop themselves. After that, this place can gradually expand to allow up to 1000 people to live together.

Unlike most other alien projects, Mulyani says this plan goes "from macro to micro". That is, the priority from the whole city narrowed down to the individual living environment.

Currently, there are some drawings that are receiving a lot of attention from NASA. The 3 most appreciated drawings will be for 3D printing and go into construction in practice. Here are the brightest candidates:

Conscious consciousness (Neurosynthesis): This urban settlement will have a closed river system, mobile housing, and even an artificial waterfall on Mars.

Dandelion: autonomous habitat using regolith, a soil element on Mars to create energy that provides oxygen, water, energy and nutrition.

Farm : allows food sources that can be grown on Mars within a tightly controlled environment to provide self-sufficiency, without having to depend on supplies from Earth.

Instant structure: using laser explosion technology to quickly create construction projects to cope with natural disasters and war.

Mars Research Facility: a high-tech complex that uses Mars materials and computer-aided engineering to support human life and research.

Life machine: maximum use of natural and artificial elements to combat the harsh environment of Mars.

Mulyani is not the first business to pay attention to building on the red planet. Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX aerospace company, has come up with a plan to bring 1 million people to Mars in just a century.
