Climate change: Vietnam is affected

According to the report of the Development Program - United Nations (UNDP), the Red River Delta and the Mekong Delta will be most severely affected by climate change. The report was presented at the " National Conference on Climate Change and Natural Disaster Prevention and Mitigation in Vietnam " organized by the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Control on November 22 at Hanoi.

The workshop focused on assessing the impact of climate change on natural disasters in Vietnam.

In recent years, storms and floods in our country tend to increase and fluctuate very erratically. One of the main causes of this phenomenon has been pointed out by scientists as a result of climate change.

The reports also focused on making researches on the impact of climate change on natural conditions, environment, economy, health, agricultural development . in our country. Especially the impact of climate change on natural disasters and floods in our country in recent years.

According to the UN UNDP report, climate change will make more than 22 million people without shelter, floods and droughts happen in some Southeast Asia . Vietnam has the two most affected areas, the Red River Delta and the Mekong Delta.

Scientists have discussed securing and communicating information from the Central to local levels to align, adapt and respond to natural disasters.

At the workshop, managers also introduced Vietnam's National Strategy on Natural Disaster Prevention and Mitigation to 2020 in the context of climate change approved by the Government.
