4 million euros of climate change mitigation in Vietnam

The German Development Cooperation (GIZ) will support Vietnam with 4 million euros to implement a climate change mitigation project in accordance with Vietnam's conditions.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) have signed an agreement to implement and start the project "Supporting national conditions for climate change mitigation actions (NAMA). in Vietnam " , according to GIZ's June 11 release. The project is expected to last four years from this year with a total cost of 4 million euros.

The project is supported by the International Climate Initiative supported by the German Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation, and Nuclear Safety.

The objective of the project is to strengthen state management on climate change response in coordination and advice to develop and implement NAMAs that can be measured, reported and appraised in Vietnam and collected. attract domestic and international funding as well as private sources.

In order to achieve the proposed goal, the project will focus on strengthening the capacity and institutions at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment on effective coordination and advice for the identification, formulation and implementation of NAMAs; set up a national system of NAMA measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) tools.

The project hopes to contribute directly to climate protection, more efficient use of resources, technological improvements and thereby improving Vietnam's competitiveness. The results of the project will help the state management agencies to respond to climate change.
