Collective whales in New Zealand

New Zealand officials announced about 80 whales rushed to the shore of Spirits in the country, but the weather did not allow people to save them.

This is the second collective whale strand of whales within two months.AFP said that 25 children died yesterday and the New Zealand Ministry of Conservation recruited 100 volunteers to bring the remaining children to the sea.

But Carolyn Smith, an official of the Ministry of Conservation, said that until this morning, there were only 24 children left. It is not possible to statistically estimate the number of dead fish because they float on the water.

According to Smith, because the waves are quite strong, the volunteers cannot return whales to Spirits Bay. The Ministry of Conservation is considering the possibility of using trucks to take them to a safer location so people can take them to the sea.

' The weather is very cold and the volunteers may be in danger if they try to save the whales, ' Smith told New Zealand radio.

Last month 63 pepper whales ran aground at the coast of Karikari, New Zealand and only 9 survived.

Scientists have yet to find the cause of collective whales. They speculate that whales may run aground when their ultrasound waves change frequency in shallow waters near the shore or when a member of the herd is ill and enters the shore to rest, causing others to follow.
