One way to address the problem of environmental balance and utilization of nutrients in shrimp farming areas is to use oyster cultivars Crassostrea rhizophorae.
In the Philippines, during the Mangrove Friendly Aquaculture Program (Mangrove Friendly Aquaculture Program), two soft shell species Sonneratia sp. to reduce harmful effects from shrimp farming environment. Brazilian researchers have cultivated Crassostrea rhizophorae oysters for clinging to the substrates placed at the vannamei hatch.
Each plate has 500 oysters, three sheets are placed together like beds. As a result, their oysters absorbed a significant amount of nitrogen and phosphorus. After five months, oysters reach 3.3cm in length, 2.16cm in width. The combination of oyster farming with shrimp farming has made use of idle labor, thanks to an extra income has improved community life.
