Deaths pits appeared in Hanoi, many households had to evacuate

Settlement pit with a diameter of about 10m, 7m deep, sticking to the foot of a two-storey house of Mr. Nguyen Van Bac's family in My Duc (Hanoi). Local authorities must set up barriers and evacuate 5 households to a safe place.

On April 3, exchanging with Tien Phong, Mr. Tran Van Hoanh - Chairman of An Tien Commune People's Committee, My Duc District, Hanoi confirmed that in the district, there has been a phenomenon of land subsidence . The subsidence occurred around 8:30 am on April 2 in the area of Mr. Nguyen Van Bac's house and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Fiber (Hoa Lac village, An Tien commune).

"As soon as we received the news, we gathered the militia and police officers in coordination with the district team to relocate the assets and people of 5 households out of the danger zone. setting up key points, fences and signs, sending key forces to work 24/24 for curious people to watch and prevent accidents " - Mr. Hoanh said.

According to Mr. Hoanh, apart from Mr. Bac's family, there is also the family of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Fiber, Mr. Hoc and Ms. Thuan's house affected by the subsidence. Settlement pit with a diameter of about 10m, depth of about 7m. In particular, Mr. Bac's house suffered the most damage, including the front yard, auxiliary works (bathrooms, toilets), falling to the foot of the house. The entire yard of the family of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Fiber also dropped to the pit. Part of the auxiliary work of the adjacent household and a lane of alleys is also reduced.

Local authorities dragged power lines to light up the subsidence area to protect the site and warn people. In addition, due to the subsidence position located on the residential road (there are 10 households living inside), the local government has mobilized a household to break the fence and establish a temporary road for the people in the area. go. By the evening of April 2, all households in the dangerous area were supported by the local authorities to evacuate to a safe place.

Representatives of the Department of Construction, Department of Natural Resources and Environment also sent officials to coordinate the initial preliminary inspection and evaluation."According to the mission, it is possible that under the stratum of the land there are many sand holes, this season the sprint leads to subsidence " - Mr. Hoanh shared.

According to Mr. Hoanh, in 2006, also in Hoa Lac village, about 100m away from the sinking position on April 2, there was a sinking pit, swallowing a whole bamboo. Subsequently, in 2010, when a household in Hoa Lac village conducted drilling wells, subsidence occurred.

In addition, in the field of the village, when people proceed to take water into production, there is a similar phenomenon. The water in the field drains the entire pit. For temporary processing, local authorities had to spread gravel and stones to level the fields to allow people to continue production. This shows that the cause of subsidence may be due to the weak geology of Hoa Lac village and many holes , deep underground circuits that have not been surveyed, causing incidents at any time.

"Based on the traces such as the walls of the people in this area, it was found that there was a fracture in the front, tilted to one side. According to the villagers, there was a stream flowing through the village, after then people leveled to build houses " - Mr. Hoanh said.

Because the geological exploration equipment of the commune is still limited, it is not possible to assess the situation, the situation as well as the risk of subsidence in the locality, An Tien Commune People's Committee proposed related departments and agencies to support the implementation. survey and exploration of the geological status of Hoa Lac village.

On that basis, zoning and statistics of affected households to have a long-term plan. In addition, An Tien Commune People's Committee also proposed that all levels and sectors have plans to support affected households to soon overcome the consequences and stabilize their lives.
