'Decant' mud from water plants

Instead of falling back into the river for a long time, the sludge discharged from water plants in Ho Chi Minh City was first treated to produce normal soil organic matter.

Currently in HCMC, water from the river is taken and put into water treatment plants. Here the water is separated from dirty substances to give clean water to the people. The remaining dirt is mud which is dumped by water plants back into the river, polluting the water source. This fact makes the city compute the sludge treatment plan to protect the environment.

"This is the first time the city is interested in treating sludge from water plants, because most of the mud from these plants is flowing into the river. Speaking during the signing of a report on the feasibility study for the sludge treatment area from water plants in Ho Chi Minh City this afternoon, Pham Douglas Huey said, the sludge will be treated into normal soil organic matter. can be used to cover landfills.

This feasibility study report is expected to be completed in 10 months (from January 15, 2010). Total investment is nearly 12.5 billion VND, the project owner is Saigon Water Supply Corporation (Sawaco). When completed, this project will develop a detailed database of major water plants in HCMC, quality survey, sediment volume, propose feasible plans for handling and disposal. mud.

Then, based on this report, Ho Chi Minh City will invest in building a mud treatment area in Thu Duc with an area of ​​7 hectares. The sludge treatment area is expected to address the sludge volume of water plants in Thu Duc and the city in the future.
