People think this is a swarm.

Many comments also believe that this is a slug (a creature that is not real in Asian myths). So what is the identity of the creature in the short video below?

What is this mysterious creature actually?

This is a video posted on งูไทยรู้จักไว้ ไม่เสียหาย, a community site with more than 38,000 followers in Thailand to help spread knowledge about snakes in this country. According to the Admin who posted the video, this is a non-venomous snake.

Specifically, in the comment below the video, this Admin said that this is a fish snake (scientific name is Homalopsis mereljcoxi), a water snake commonly found in rivers, streams, ponds, lakes, lagoons, rice field.

Regarding the "fur" covering the outside, they are actually just caused by algae clinging to it. The reason this snake is recognized even though its entire body is covered is because its nose has a very typical pattern in fish snakes (See photo below).

The nose feature helps identify this snake.

The cobra is a large, sturdy snake, nearly 1m long, weighing about 6 pounds with many circles from head to tail. The characteristic sign of this snake is that the nose has a black arrow-shaped pattern, and the belly has black spots that look like moles.

This snake is distributed mainly in the water area in the South of our country and is harmless to humans because it has no venom. Not only that, the meat of this snake is also very delicious, so it is often hunted. They only eat frogs, fish, frogs and are active at night.

They live part-time underwater, so it's not too difficult to understand a snake covered with moss. The female snakes will give birth to 2 to 20 babies per litter. Baby snakes are about 23cm long when born.
