Two colliding galaxies have formed a very weak giant galaxy, a phenomenon that American astronomers call the 'broken joint' of the universe.

Hai Fu graduate student of the University of California, Irvine (USA) said that two young galaxies colliding 11 billion years ago quickly formed a super-giant galaxy about 10 times the size of the Milky Way.

It is rare for astronomers to capture pictorial images of such a giant body but such fate. This opportunity is rarely equivalent to discovering a broken connection between winged dinosaurs and prehistoric birds.

The giant HXMM01 galaxy also dissipated as quickly as when it was formed. Experts say it is a victim of violent births, when colliding galaxies have devoured large amounts of hydrogen, the gas produces stars in the universe.
