Deputy Minister Le Dinh Tien received the Delegation of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
On October 26, 2006, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Le Dinh Tien had a meeting with IAEA cadres led by Ms. Cynthia Heibegr, who was visiting and working in Vietnam.
At the meeting, Ms. Cythia Heibegr appreciated the achievements in science and technology, including the development of peaceful nuclear energy in Vietnam. At the same time, she also noted that in order to develop atomic energy sources, the Vietnamese side needs to promote expert training, construction of technical infrastructure, complete implementation and special legal documents. is the assurance of security and safety of radioactive sources.
According to Ms. Heibegr, in order to manage radioactive energy sources, the Vietnamese side (especially the Department of Radiation and Nuclear Safety Control - Ministry of Science and Technology is the focal point of management) should have close and full cooperation. further with the science and technology departments, research institutes . to inventory the existing radioactive sources from which to propose mechanisms and appropriate management methods.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Dinh Tien thanked for the effective cooperation and appreciated the positive support of the IAEA and hoped to continue to receive more cooperation and help from the side. The IAEA in training and transferring equipment, providing advice to the S&T in Vietnam in general and the atomic energy field for peaceful purposes in particular is growing, contributing to economic development - society.
