Detected intact 1.1 ton skull of tyrant dinosaurs

American paleontologists unearthed fossils of a tyrant dinosaur who lived nearly 70 million years ago with an almost intact skull.

Despite being one of the famous dinosaurs, the tyrannical dinosaur fossil (Tyrannosaurus rex or T-Rex) is rare. The latest discovery is in 25 complete specimens in the world, International Business Times yesterday reported. Paleontologists estimate that they found about 20% of the animal's skeleton, including the skull in a well-preserved condition. The team will continue excavation work in the following summer to find more bones.

Excavation team, headed by a student at the University of Washington and managing vertebrate paleontology at the Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture, Gregory P Wilson, discovered fossil specimens during a detective To Hell Creek castle in northern Montana, USA. This is the world famous area with dinosaur fossils. While searching, a piece of fossil bone emerged from the rocky side attracted the attention of volunteers Jason Love and Luke Tufts. On closer inspection, the team in turn found the animal's skull, ribs, spine bones, jaw and pelvis.

T-Rex is one of the largest and scariest dinosaurs that has wandered on Earth. This animal is an average of 12m long, 4.5 - 6m high. The size combined with sharp teeth like saw blades turns them into effective and dangerous predators.

T-Rex's fossil evidence shows that they eat relatively large dinosaurs like Edmontosaurus and Triceratops. T-Rex lived 66 - 68 million years ago in the jungle-covered valleys of western North America in the late Cretaceous period.

In honor of the first two discovery volunteers, the specimen was named "Tufts-Love Rex" . The dinosaur skull is about 1.2 meters long and weighs 1,100kg. The team covered the external plaster to protect the specimen during travel.

Based on the size of the skull, paleontologists estimate the large sample as 85% of the largest T.Rex dinosaur ever recorded and it was 15 years old when it died. T-Rex Dinosaurs usually have a lifespan of 25-30 years.

The fossil record dates back to 66.3 million years because it was in the rock layer that existed from the great extinction event between the Cretaceous and Ancient Coyote. This event took place 66 million years ago under the influence of comets or a giant meteorite, wiping out three-quarters of Earth's creatures.
