Some breast cancers are associated with silicone breast augmentation

INCa said that since 2011 there have been 18 women with a rare form of cancer, called ALCL (short for anaplastic large cell lymphoma).

ALCL is a form of non-Hodgin lymphoma that involves degenerative large lymphocytes . The disease occurs when cancer cells create cysts around the implant in the mammary gland structure of the patient.

14 out of 18 cases of ALCL rare cancer occurred in women who had breast augmentation at American pharmaceutical company Allergan.

However, the company insists that they always put " the safety of patients as a top priority ," and said Allergan worked closely with health authorities and the Drug Administration of ANSM. of France during breast transplantation for patients.

Prior to the above information, French Minister of Health Marisol Touraine immediately reassured those who had breast augmentation and emphasized complications from breast augmentation implants causing rare ALCL cancer.

Previous scientific studies have also shown that the number of people who have corrected breast augmentation surgery has 3 times higher risk of breast cancer than those who do not have breast augmentation implants.

Researchers believe that breast augmentation will create darkness on X-ray films, which may hinder the vision of experts on breast tumors detection. As a result, early detection of tumors is easily overlooked, reducing the chances of survival of patients.

According to ANSM statistics, about 400,000 French women have breast augmentation surgery, 80% for cosmetic reasons and 20% as a result of breast cancer.
