Located in the eastern sea of ​​Sabah City (Malaysia), the islanders of Semporna have a separate life from modern civilization, with modest huts in the sea.

The Bajau people have a tradition of living in small boats.Every day they float on the sea, fishing to earn a living.Therefore, they are also called nomadic people in the ocean.

Today, some nomads have moved ashore to live, many still sticking to the sea, living in floating villages built on coral reefs.

The children on Tabbalanos Island were mischievous and excited to meet visitors, who rarely visited the island.

They rowed boats well when they were very young.

Children learn to swim and dive from a young age.

By about 8 years old, they were able to hunt.

Tabbalanos is a small village with only 11 rooftops.

Each family has about 5 children.

Bajau mothers give birth at the sea-level huts.

Almost all Bajau people were born, grew up and lived their whole lives in the village.

Everyone, from old to young, participates in fishing.

Age seems to be a concept that does not exist here.

Instead of nostalgic or anxious for the future, the Bajau only live for the present.

The Mabul Islands consist of the Omadal, Sibuan, Maiga islands, and Tagatan also have a similar life.

The village of Omadal is larger, consisting of 70 families living on huts connected by bridges.

People here use Borak turmeric on their face to protect themselves from the sun.
