Astronomers use data from the K2 mission to find a "" system around a strange star called LP 415-17.
This star has a radius of about 58% compared to our Sun.(Image source: Phys).
LP 415-17 , also known as EPIC 210897587 and 2MASS 04215245 + 2121131 , is a K - intermediate dwarf located about 267 light - years from Earth.
This star has a radius of about 58% compared to our Sun, the mass accounts for 65% of the sun, and has at least three "Super Earths": LP 415-17b, c and d revolving around.
Dr. Francisco Javier de Cos Juez of Oviedo University and colleagues based on data from K2's Operation 13 to determine the size, mass and orbit of these so-called "super-Earth" planets .
LP 415-17b, c and d are respectively 1.8, 2.6 and 1.9 times the radius of Earth and orbiting the host with a time of 6.34, 13.85 and 40.72 days.
Dr. de Cos Juez and co-authors said: "This system is suitable to enhance our understanding of the formation and development of super-earth systems including soil and rock on the surface, atmosphere, internal structure, composition and how to interact with stars ".
