Experts and anthropologists say they have found skulls in a cave near the Guatemalan border - the Nuevo Ojo de Agua farm in the North Central American migration area.
An unnamed official said investigators are trying to determine the age, gender and cause of the victims' deaths.
Based on the decay of the skulls, experts initially thought these victims were over 50 years old, and also provided additional information that the causes of these victims' deaths were unrelated to violence. , an employee said.
Mexican authorities including police, prosecutors, civil and military security guards are rushing to work to unearth the remains and transport them to study.
The remains were transferred to Tuxtla Gutierrez for inspection.
