Discovered drifting rocks in exotic seas in the Pacific Ocean
The New Zealand Navy said a large volcanic rock was discovered floating in the Pacific Ocean, covering an area of up to 26,000 square kilometers.
This strange phenomenon described by witnesses is shaped like a floating ice block, actually made up of lightweight pumice stones erupting from an underwater crater.
The stones are obtained from floating stones
A New Zealand air force plane detected this rock in the sea 1,000 km from New Zealand and warned a naval ship that the rock was heading straight towards the ship.
Lieutenant Tim Oscar said that while he understood that his HMNZS Canterbury would not be in danger from this rock, which was a lava that had solidified and filled with air bubbles, he still saw this as a strange phenomenon. most of them have seen in 18 years of military service.
"I have seen them in fact that a large mass of pumice stones is moving along the ocean waves. The stones seem to have floated on the water about half a meter and they are white, looking from afar will create hallucinations. like a polar ice block " - he said.
Scientists on the Canterbury ship said that pumice can form from an underground crater known as Monowai, which recently awakened.

They said that this phenomenon was not related to volcanic eruptions in New Zealand during the week, including Mount Tongariro eruption that fired ash to kilometers in the atmosphere.
