Discovered giant squid species in the North Pacific

Japan National Science Museum and its media announced on January 7 that the scientists had filmed a video of a giant squid in the deep waters of the North Pacific, 15km from Chichi Island. eastward.

This finding marks the success of this "great" marine creature study after many hopeless efforts by researchers around the world.

According to Japanese scientists, this boneless sea creature is 8m long, silvery white and big black eyes. The ink is seen swimming in the opposite direction, holding the bait with tentacles. Sea level expert at the Japan National Science Museum Tsunemi Kubodera said the two longest tentacles of this giant squid could not be seen in the footage.

In order to capture the precious images of the giant squid, Japanese scientists in collaboration with the country's NHK Broadcasting Station and the US Channel Discovery Channel spent a total of 400 hours in the Diving ships at waters of 630m depth in the North Pacific.

After nearly 100 dives, the group of three researchers tracked the giant squid down to a depth of 900m as it swam into the depths of the ocean.

In 2006, researcher Kubodera once recorded a vivid image of another giant squid in the same sea after the creature was hooked and brought to the surface. After twice discovering that giant squid in the same sea area, Kubodera said the sea could be a major habitat for this "great" marine species.

The giant squid has the scientific name "Architeuthis" , often eating other squid species and a fish that lives in the deep ocean. According to scientists, the length of giant squid can reach more than 10m.

Expected, NHK Television and Discovery Channel will broadcast rare documentary footage of the discovery of the giant ink at the end of January.
