Discovered the 6,300-year-old 'eco-house' near Stonehenge

British archaeologists have discovered an ancient house near Stonehenge, with an older date than this symbolic work for more than 1,000 years. Now environmentalists are worried that a tunnel to be built may seriously damage the site.

Discovered an older house than Stonehenge

Archaeologists say the prehistoric house was built about 6,300 years ago , which is older than Stonehenge for at least 1,300 years.

Researchers have called this work the 'ecological' house, because one of the walls of this house is a fallen tree trunk filled with flint.

Archaeologist David Jacques from Buckingham University said the work was built by Middle Stone hunter-gatherers. In addition, the complexity of the building is also much higher than the previous assessments for people of this era.

'Rather than having to depend entirely on nature, in terms of environment, they are very attentive and equipped with many skills as well as subtle understanding of terrain. They tried to adapt to their habitat, " he said.

Archaeologists also said the ancient inhabitants had placed 'big stones' near the walls of this building. These may be ancient 'reserve fireplaces' , heated by fire and placed next to people's sleeping places, instead of letting fire burn all night.

The team found evidence that this house was a semi-permanent structure built on a deep pile. There is also a gravel road leading to a nearby stream, where residents hold a ceremony.

Researchers believe that this archaeological site called Blick Mead may hold the key to understanding the process of people beginning to live in the UK, because they have found signs of permanent settlement from in 7600 to 4246 BC - close to the time when England became an island.

Jacques also said that the importance of this relic could be one reason why Stonehenge was built.

'This is the only medieval stone settlement settlement in Western Europe , and we believe that these "ecologically" home-like places are home to the first British people. Blick Mead has something that makes many generations constantly return to this place, where Stonehenge was formed , 'Jacques said.

'Experts say that people who once lived in similar houses may be his father of those who built Stonehenge,' Jacques added.

Archaeologists have also found thousands of artifacts used by Stone Age people in the area around it. These include more than 20,000 ignition tools, an animal skin smoothing tool, a stone head of Cornwall or Wales, burnt flint and over 2,400 pieces of animal bones. However, archaeologists are very concerned about the plan to build a large tunnel, this new discovery is only about 15m.

'I am very concerned that any decrease in groundwater levels in this stream and anywhere else in the Avon Valley may be a threat to very important organic water archaeological sites, as well as ancient environmental evidence here , 'Jacques said.

The area adjacent to Stonehenge in the west of England has brought many archaeologists to discover within the past few months.

In September, archaeologists found a building used to make ceremonies near the mossy land, only 3 km away from the archaeological site.

This hall, although it is believed to have been built during the Neolithic period, if it still exists, will look straight out at the River Avon.

Scientists studying the area found more than 30 intact stones, including rocks up to 4.5 meters tall, with pieces of 60 other rocks as well as nearby pits.

'What we're seeing is the largest remaining stone monument ever discovered in England and even in Europe, well preserved by the Avon River bank,' said archaeologist Vince Gaffney. Bradford University said.

'This is a new element related to the formation of the Stonehenge landscape ,' he added.
