Discovered the ancient Roman arena with a capacity of 10,000 people

Italian archaeologists discovered the remains of an ancient arena dating back thousands of years in Tuscany.

IB Times on October 12 reported that the foundation of the oval building was found in Volterra, in central Tuscany, which could have been born in the first century - the peak period of the Roman Empire.

Preliminary estimates indicate the foundation of the arena 80m long, 60m wide. However, archaeologists need to conduct deeper excavations to draw full conclusions about the size. This work is still smaller compared to the largest arena in Rome with a capacity of 50,000 people.

"This arena is quite big. The survey revealed three rows of seats to accommodate 10,000 people. The audience entertained by watching the gladiator fight and fight with wild animals. This finding helps to clarify. It shows during the reign of the emperor Augustus, this is an important center of Rome, " said Elena Sorge, an archaeologist who heads the excavation team.

Archaeologists say the building was built of stone and decorated with a local stone called panchino. Using ground-penetrating radar technology from the University of Genoa, Italy, the team discovered an arena with a depth of nearly 10 meters. Currently, the team found a large sculpture stone block and a covered corridor entrance.
