The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, where the artist's greatest collection of famous paintings, published on Monday, September 9, 2013, has just discovered a picture of a family in Norway was painted by Vincent Van Gogh. The painting is titled "Sunset in Montmajour".

The museum's director, Axel Ruger, said that the discovery of this painting by the great artist has never happened during each of those five museums. Van Gogh is said to have completed the large-scale picture of "Sunset at Montmajour" in 1888, two years before his death and in "a time of great appreciation as the pinnacle of artistic achievement of painter, " Mr. Ruger said.

The painting depicts a landscape in the vicinity of the city of Arles in the south of France, where Van Gogh worked at the time of 1888. This painting has never been seen in public for more than a century. After studying carefully the style, technique, paint, fabric, art, Van Gogh's handwriting and origin, the museum determined that it was Van Gogh's work. The painting will be officially displayed at the museum from September 24.
