DivX collaborates with Google Video

Video technology firm DivX has announced plans to partner with Google in providing Google Video services for a variety of consumer electronics devices.

Like the popular MP3 format, DivX allows users to create and view encoded video clips small enough to stream over the Internet and view on some portable devices. The latest DivX 6.0 technology allows storing extremely sharp personal videos (HD) and enables the distribution of new commercially produced videos.
