DivX collaborates with Google Video

Video technology firm DivX has announced plans to partner with Google in providing Google Video services for a variety of consumer electronics devices.

DivX video (codec) technology is capable of delivering 10 times better compression quality than traditional MPEG2, allowing to encapsulate a long movie in a CD or 8 episodes in a DVD .

DivX also announced that electronics company Pioneer Electronics will introduce a new line of DVD players, certified to be compatible with the DixX standard, in the US; and JVE will announce a line of car DVD equipment in North America.

Like the popular MP3 format, DivX allows users to create and view encoded video clips small enough to stream over the Internet and view on some portable devices. The latest DivX 6.0 technology allows storing extremely sharp personal videos (HD) and enables the distribution of new commercially produced videos.
