Google Video prepares to stand trial

Last weekend, Google confirmed information about the Google Video service is facing a new legal challenge on copyright infringement.

According to an article published online Media Daily, the lawsuit involved a documentary that was posted on Google Video. The owner of the documentary film asked Google to pay an amount equivalent to $ 193,000.

' We have a full set of processes that allow content owners to let us know about copyright infringement on Google Video. Once we have received notification from content owners, we will immediately remove the infringing content from Google Video '.

Information about this lawsuit has been leaked since the middle of last week from a meeting of the US Securities and Exchange Commission. Accordingly, Google has listed Google Video in those who are facing legal challenges.

A Google spokesperson declined to give further details about the lawsuit.

In addition, a group of technology rights advocates (EFF - Electronic Frontier Foundation) also sent a document to Google Video, YouTube and a number of other video sharing service providers asking to identify who was upload a controversial documentary on the Internet.

Copyright infringement is becoming a hot issue when the status of pirated videos is 'blooming' on the web. Google now has two different online video sharing services, Google Video and a $ 1.65 billion contract, via YouTube.

Investors believe that Google will sooner or later face copyright lawsuits. And perhaps the aforementioned 'small lawsuit' is a testament to this concern.
