A pack of wild dogs with blue fur appeared on the streets of Mumbai, India, attracting much attention.

The wild dogs' fur turned blue due to drinking and bathing in polluted river water , IFL Science reported. Industrial waste flows down the Kasadi River in Navi Mumbai, near Maharashtra state in western India, long thought to be unsuitable for human use.

Animal protectors are asking local authorities to take measures to handle the company discharging waste into the river after reports of green dogs increase.

"We were shocked to see the dog's white fur turn completely blue. We found up to 5 such dogs here and asked the pollution control committee to handle the work. " , animal protectionist Arati Chauhan said.

Water quality testing in the river area indicates that pollution levels have increased 13 times the safety limit. The Maharashtra Pollution Control Commission (MPCB) said it is investigating the case.
