Thanks to 50-nanometer processing technology, Samsung developed the world's first memory chip with twice the density of previous DRAM lines, helping to produce modules up to 32 GB in capacity.

In September 2008, the Korean electronics company launched a 2 gigabit DDR3 chip. Bob Merritt, an analyst with research firm Convergent Semiconductors, says high-density memory chips will help reduce product prices and save power for the system.

Samsung's move is a new vigor for the DRAM market because the price of this product has been going down for the past two years due to oversupply, leading to a bankruptcy of some companies like Qimonda.
