Drug-resistant TB spreads in Africa

The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned of the spread of XDR-TB after the South Africa reported more than 300 human infections in the country yesterday.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned of the spread of XDR-TB after the South Africa reported more than 300 human infections in the country yesterday.

According to the South African Ministry of Health, the number of people with XDR-TB is found to live in many different areas, which means the risk of spread of this strain is very large. Dr. L.Mvusi, Minister of Health of South Africa, said the cases were taken to hospital for treatment. However, some people died due to severe illness.

According to WHO, XDR-TB is a strain of TB germs that are not only resistant to drugs at the first level but also at least 3 types (in 6 types) of drugs in the second line, the last line of defense against TB germs. After Africa, experts warned that XDR-TB could threaten Asia and some parts of Europe.
