Drugs are in the air

The Italian Air Pollution Research Institute announced that they found traces of cocaine and marijuana in the air in eight cities.

Airborne drug concentrations peaked in Turin and reached the lowest level in the city of Palermo. Florence has the highest concentration of cannabis. The study also showed that the concentration of drugs in the air changes over time during the year. For example, the levels of cannabis and caffeine peaked in the winter months.

In addition, the team also discovered other airborne substances in eight cities, including caffeine and nicotine.

A study, conducted in 2006, also proved that air in Rome, Italy's capital, contains cocaine at extremely low levels.
