Eat brown rice to prevent high blood pressure and heart attack
Replacing brown rice with brown rice can help prevent high blood pressure and reduce the risk of heart attack, US-Japanese experts said.
Brown rice is a better source of fiber than white cereals and also high in blood cholesterol.
The test showed that brown rice contains a compound that protects the heart from a harmful protein, but that compound will be lost if the grains are made white.
US and Japanese researchers say these findings help explain why heart disease cases in Japan are lower, where people eat rice daily.
Professor Satoru Eguchi, Temple University, Philadelphia, said: 'Brown rice has an advantage over white rice because it helps protect the body from high blood pressure and atherosclerosis'.
