Ebay consider selling Skype
That is the assertion of John Donahoe, the new executive director of eBay last month. It can be seen that this will be one of the steps for the new executive to revive the 'giant' in the online auction field after having to support himself to support the billions of dollars to buy back Skype.
eBay acquired Skype with the expectation that the service would "add more lubrication to the far-away online market" by creating a more convenient communication channel between sellers and buyers and help build Build a new business model 'click to call' (click call to order). But three years have passed since the merger with Skype, eBay has yet to find any evidence that Skype is useful for its business areas.
But since returning to eBay, Skype has also been more profitable and achieved very strong growth. So far the number of Skype users has reached 309 million. Most of these are free users. Although the number of users who pay less for Skype's revenue in the first three months of this year also reached $ 126 million - up 61% over the same period last year. It is forecasted that Skype's revenue may reach $ 500 million this year.
It is also reported that eBay is also intending to sell the PayPal online payment service division. However, the new CEO of eBay did not disclose any information about this plan.
