Electronic company goes to grow vegetables
Referring to the name Toshiba, one remembers a powerful Japanese electronics company. However, Toshiba is planning to encroach on the food market.

Toshiba will build a green vegetable factory in Yokosuka City. The plant is calculated to use air-conditioning systems, lighting is strictly controlled to optimize conditions for the growth of indoor plants. A system of fluorescent lighting and air conditioning is also installed to keep the plant always at constant temperature and humidity.
The plant is already under construction and Toshiba will start with vegetables grown such as lettuce, spinach, green leafy vegetables . right in July. Toshiba hopes to harvest green vegetables and sell them on the market to earn $ 3 million annually.
Toshiba's plant will be isolated with outside air to create a sterile environment, avoiding pests. This means that no pesticides are required and that post-harvest products can be stored longer than usual. The company also plans to sell supermarkets of vegetables rich in polyphenols and vitamin C.
These types of factories have started to become popular in Japan, the country relies heavily on importing agricultural products to meet their food needs. Not only does it save land, it can also produce large quantities of agricultural products, effectively controlling energy and nutrients.
