Eruption sludge in Ninh Thuan is a geological disaster

Five mud drives suddenly flowed on the field land in Suoi Da village, Loi Hai commune, Thuan Bac district (Ninh Thuan) in March. Talking to PV, Mr. Pham Chau Hoanh, Head of specialized technology management department, Ninh Thuan Department of Science and Technology affirmed that the phenomenon of soil cracking, mud leakage in Thuan Bac is just a kind of scale geological disaster. small, related to endogenous factors due to the activity of tectonic faults of the shallow part of the earth's crust; and the effect of exogenous factors such as rainwater and underground water .

According to Mr. Hoanh, in the 5 mud drives, there are 2 new ones (in February), 2 drives appear on 6 months and 1 drive is quite long. All five drives cover an area of ​​about 1,700 m ² .

Field surveys showed extruded sludge naturally flowing into soil cracks forming the northeast - southwest direction; diameter of each mud drive is from 1.6 to 3 m. Floating sludge is 0.4-0.8 m above the ground; depth of 5-6 m. Mud is light gray, light green, mud pressure is quite strong, so when the surface is widened, the mud flows more and more.

According to the team's calculations, estimates of mineral mud reserves here are about 30,409 tons. If building a nursing tourism center that uses bathing services, soaking with mineral water - mineral mud with an exploitation capacity of about 600 tons a year of refined sludge, it can operate stably for over 10 years.

However, the appearance of deep mud pits in rice fields becomes a trap that is very dangerous for people and livestock when they pass by. Many local people said that previously, cattle had been slaughtered here.

Forecast of the research team, the phenomenon of mud eruption will continue to occur according to natural law, within the survey area, especially when heavy rains occur. The sludge seismic site is only about 30-40 km away from the construction site of Ninh Thuan 1 and 2 Nuclear Plants.
