E-idea , the name of the competition, was launched by the British Council and Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) in Australia, China, Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam. British Foreign Secretary William Hague officially announced the regional competition at the Sydney Opera House in Australia in January.

The competition will have 6 awards . The warm-up award for new ideas worth up to VND 100 million and the development of ideas for ideas and projects that have been or are being implemented with a maximum value of VND 140 million.

In order to win the prize, the competition projects need to demonstrate measures to address one of the biggest environmental challenges facing urban communities in Vietnam. For example, projects can provide solutions to increase management efficiency, reduce waste, environmentally friendly transport and transportation methods, reduce energy consumption, and effectively use water and models that are sustainable.

Besides financial support, LRQA and the British Council will equip the winners with leadership skills as well as project management skills and knowledge. The winners will also be participating in the regional E-idea network of LRQA and the British Council . As network members, they have access to training opportunities and network development in cooperation with environmental and social activists.

In addition, the E-idea contest also helps individuals or groups win participation in the global entrepreneurship network with 50,000 members.

On this occasion, the website www.e-idea.org has also launched to provide information and application forms for examination for interested people. Deadline for receipt of applications is July 3, 2011.
