Researchers at the University of North Carolina (USA) have found the final pieces to solve the human rhythm rhythm puzzle.

Previously, scientists learned that in each cell up to four genes - including: Cryptochrome, Period, CLOCK, and BMAL1 - all affect the circadian rhythm on the day, but do not know the mechanism of action them.
Now they have determined how the biological clock is regulated in cells.
According to Phys.Org, the scientists discovered two special genes, Period and Cryptochrome , which function to regulate the circadian clock in every cell of the human body, allowing restarting the circadian rhythm after every 24 hours.
New discoveries are considered to play an important role in efforts to prepare drugs to treat cancer and diabetes, as well as metabolic syndrome, insomnia, seasonal disorders, obesity and even motion sickness
In 2010, the team also published a finding that showed an enzyme content of XPA decreased and increased in sync with the circadian rhythm.
Accordingly, chemotherapy is thought to be most effective when XPA is at the lowest level of the day, and in humans at the end of the afternoon.
This means that the recovery process of DNA is controlled by the biological clock, so the new discovery allows for the development of more effective anticancer drugs.
