Scientists have named the newly discovered species of crocodile, Simosuchus clarki . Simosuchus clarki crocodile lives on the island of Madagascar 66 million years ago, right in the period of dinosaur extinction.

Simosuchus clarki has a completely different appearance with modern crocodiles. They are about 0.6m long, the nose is like a pig's nose, the leaf-shaped teeth, the body is short and rough, the jaw is short and low.

According to scientists, Simosuchus clarki crocodiles are not lying near the lakes to catch prey like modern crocodiles because they mainly eat plants. Normally, they will hide in the grass to avoid predators.

Dr. Christopher Brochu, in charge of the research team, said Simosuchus clarki is the most bizarre crocodile ever discovered.
