Discover the giant 10-meter-long crocodile vestiges specialized in hunting dinosaurs

Fossils of teeth, battleships and backbones belonging to crocodile-like creatures have revealed more about the prehistoric world.

According to the Daily Mail, after analyzing fossil samples in southern Africa, the scientists found that ancient crocodiles called Raubuchia have a close relationship with herbivorous dinosaurs.

The time when these giant hunters disappear is when the herbivorous dinosaurs rise most strongly on Earth because there are no more predators.

Rauisuchian crocodiles are distant relatives of modern crocodiles today and they are the largest predator among crocodile relatives. They grow to a length of 10 meters, have giant skulls with mouths filled with sharp teeth.

Researchers from Witswatersrand University, Johannesburg, South Africa, have learned more about this ancient crocodile through fossils found.

Cambodian crocodile specialized in hunting dinosaurs to eat grass 210 million years ago. 'The new finding helps us understand more about ancient life in southern Africa,' the team said.

'In the Triassic, the crocodile of Cambodia was born everywhere. Their fossils are found all over the continent, from Antarctica, ' said researcher Rick Tolchard. 'They went extinct about 200 million years ago, paving the way for dinosaurs to dominate the land because they no longer fear threats.'

The research was published in the African Science journal last week. In 2014, researchers in the UK discovered ancient crocodiles who ran as fast as dogs today to escape predators, including carnivorous dinosaurs.

After the Triassic extinction event, the ancestors of crocodiles descended into the water to breed, learn to live underwater, swim faster and catch fish.
