The FAROS Firefighting Robot System (FAROS ) is a firefighting initiative developed by the research team at the Korea Institute for Advanced Science and Technology (KAIST). FAROS can help detect and extinguish fires in high-rise buildings, as well as fly over and climb walls. The team applied the technology of Aerial Rocket System (CAROS) for FAROS.

FAROS equips a heat-resistant camera to locate the person trapped in the building. A variety of image processing technologies allow this device to identify the cause of the fire.

In the video introduction, FAROS is extremely heat resistant (1000 ° C) for over a minute without any damage due to the aramid coating. This material is often used in automotive, aerospace, and military technology to create heat-resistant surfaces.

Underneath the device is an air cushion maintained at optimum temperature thanks to the thermoelectric cooling system. In the system, the current is passed between two different materials. The temperature difference between the two sides results in the Peltier effect, which helps maintain the device's performance.

Thanks to these technologies, FAROS can penetrate the fire scene and communicate information to firefighters outside. Then, they will make accurate decisions, which will help to shorten the time spent solving the fire on high.
