Forest restoration solution in Cat Ba National Park
After more than three years of research, Master Hoang Van Thap, Director of Cat Ba National Park has proposed five solutions to recover about 7,000 ha of poor regenerated forest on limestone mountains in the buffer zone of Cat Ba National Park, Hai. Room.
The solutions include: zoning for protection of forests with natural resilience, without human impact; zoning off for regeneration combined with supplementary planting of targeted trees for natural or slow-growing forests; enrich and nurture forests in the areas of business plantations by introducing a variety of multi-purpose trees such as timber and medicine; renovation of ecological forests by clearing, cutting off non-purpose trees.
Director of Cat Ba National Park said, the difficulty of implementing the above solutions is a large investment budget, plus the renovation of the forest on the rock takes ten years to bring economic efficiency, so people People participating in forest restoration programs and projects need capital support from the State as well as other international organizations.
Due to the lack of funding for implementation, in the short term, Cat Ba National Park has just piloted these solutions on a small scale, with an area of 15ha.
The poor regenerating forest on the rocky mountain is in a lonely, barren condition, which can be lost if there is no positive measure to recover, adversely affecting the ecological environment of Cat Ba National Park and the project area. Biosphere reserves of the world.
