Fossil discovery of a new dinosaur

According to a scientific study published January 13 in the US, scientists found fossils of a new prehistoric dinosaur 230 million years ago in the Ischigualasto region, known as a cradle. Archeology is located in the northwest of Argentina.

The fossil is a small dinosaur belonging to the Eodromaeus family with two legs, long neck and tail. The total length of fossils is nearly 2m.

According to scientists, this discovery contributes to the light of the evolution of the Terópodos dinosaur family , known as the " bipedal monster ", which includes the famous tyrant dinosaur Tiranosaurio Rex.

Paleontologist Paul Sereno, of the University of Chicago, says this is the oldest fossil his team of scientists found during the evolution of carnivores, which ends with the species Tiranosaurus. Rex - the most feared predatory reptile known in history - near the end of the dinosaur era.

Scientists believe that the finding helps distinguish the differences between the Eodromaeus species and the contemporary Eoraptor species, belonging to the large Saurópodos long and four-legged necks. Both of them were about the same size and ran on two legs, which led to the hypothesis that the three main dinosaur families that lived in the end of the Third Century were Ornitisquios, Sauropodomorfos and Terópodos with similar shapes.

But the new Eodromaeus fossil has a skull similar to the species Terópodos , while the Eoraptor eating grass has the same characteristics as the Saurópodos with broad nostrils and lower teeth.

Noting thousands of fossils discovered in the Ischigualasto region, from lizard-like creatures to domestic reptiles like mammals, more than dinosaurs, scientists believe, Dinosaurs probably dominated the habitat for millions of years.
