Found 2000 year old gold collection

A priceless gold collection of Afghanistan, seemingly destroyed by the Taliban after mysteriously disappearing almost 20 years ago, has just appeared at a Paris exhibition on 11-12.

The collection contains more than 200 Bactrian Gold Treasures, an ancient treasure from the first century BC, currently on display at the Guimet museum near the Eiffel Tower.

These marvelous ornaments include rings made of granite and turquoise, holy grail, love statues, golden dragons, statues of Bactrian gods . and many other decorations and jewelry with gold.

The exhibition called Afganistan - treasure finds again, displaying 288 exhibits. They are part of 21,618 gold, ivory and gemstone artifacts found by archaeologists in six Bactrian tombs at a place in Tillya Tepe, the northern Afghan archaeological city.

For years, experts have feared that these precious objects were smuggled out of Afghanistan through grocery stores in Peshawar and sold to private collectors. melting into gold to get money for the operation of the Jihad Muslim group.

They were displayed at the National Museum of Afghanistan in Kabul, but were stolen and appropriated during the civil war in the 1990s. In 2001, the Taliban government canceled all artworks. left in the campaign of destroying the " pagan art ", disappearing two famous Bamyian buddha statues.

Later, in 2003, President Hamid Karzai discreetly announced that the Gold works of the Collection were found and that they were stored in the underground cell of the Central Bank in Kabul.

Mr. Jean-Francois Jarrige, director of the Guimet museum, recounted: 'The door is locked with 7 different locks, each key is given to seven different people, according to Afghan customs.'

Because he was unable to preserve the collection, Afghanistan decided not to display his collection in his homeland but to Paris.

The priceless collection will be displayed at the Guimet museum in Paris from now until April next year, after which it will be transferred to other European cities for everyone to have a chance to enjoy.
