Fossil ivory, discovered by a farmer when he was working on his field in Huaiyuan County in Anhui Province, is about 3 meters long.

According to Xinhua, the newly discovered fossil tusk was identified as an adult elephant of the extinct Palaeoloxodon species.

The elephant is believed to live in northeastern China in the area of Anhui and Henan provinces 120,000 to 10,000 years ago.

The state of calcification makes the new ivory fossil very fragile.
