Archaeologists discovered a golden antique garland buried with a woman about 2,300 years ago in Thessaloniki, Greece.
During the mining process to build a new metro network in Thessaloniki, Greece's second largest city, archaeologists discovered a golden antique wreath buried with a woman about 2,300 years ago.
Vassiliki Misailidou, an archaeologist, said that olive branched wreaths were buried in coffins with women. It dates from the end of the 4th century to the beginning of the 3rd century BC.

Archaeologists say they have also excavated many similar artifacts in an ancient cemetery west of Thessaloniki.

According to statistics, there are about 23,000 Ancient and Medieval artifacts discovered during archaeological excavations combined with construction since 2006. Construction projects are expected to be completed in 2017.
