From now until 2080, the Arctic ice can melt completely
Ice in the Arctic ocean can completely melt in the summer from now until 2080 due to the warming of the climate. Scientists present at the conference in Breme (Germany) on November 5 in the framework of the European Damocles program confirmed.
Mr. Eberhard Fahrbach of Alfred-Wegner Institute for Marine and Polar Studies (AWI) said climate changes threaten polar bears as well as the entire food chain, affecting fish.
The Damocles Program is a European project focusing more than 100 researchers working at 45 European institutes allocated in 11 European and Russian countries. The goal of the project is to observe, understand and evaluate climate changes in the Arctic ocean.
