General CD security patch for Windows
Microsoft has just introduced a new option for businesses and users to update security patches once without using Windows Update or WSUS (Microsoft Windows Server Update Services) but instead using CD.
Microsoft will provide all high-risk security patches or monthly updates for Windows into the CD image file (ISO). 'This will not affect the end user as much as it will not automatically detect the current version of the user in use,' explained Craig Gehre from Microsoft Security Response Center. ' But instead, it will be really useful for users who often download and manage multiple updates. For example, the security error MS06-002 has 125 separate security packs for all languages and versions .
Users must use software from 3rd party to burn image file (ISO-9660) on CD. Information about the general security and update error CD can be found here.
Microsoft also released the first CD image file for January 2006, combining two security errors, KB912919 (MS06-001) and KB908519 (MS06-002). With 98.7MB capacity, users can download it completely for free here.
