Goldfish survive thanks to surgery to remove the head tumor

The 9-year-old goldfish was saved after undergoing surgery to remove the tumor on his head and was able to live for another 20 years.

Yahoo on 4 April reported, Bubbles, a red-white goldfish, had a tumor on his head. According to veterinary doctor Tristan Rich in Melbourne, Australia, tumors can make it difficult for fish to bait and swim in the water.

In a complicated surgery, Dr. Rich removed Bubbles' tumor and saved his life successfully. The first step in the process is to soothe the goldfish.

"Bubbles is moved to swim in the bucket of anesthetic drugs and after it falls asleep, we plug the snorkel into the fish's mouth to let water flow through it," Rich said.

After being able to breathe outside the water, Bubbles began to undergo surgery. "We proceed to remove the tumor very quickly and use tissue glue to close the wound. At the end of the operation, Bubbles was placed in the postoperative room and used oxygen tubes , " Rich said.

Similar to humans, Bubbles certainly felt pain after the operation, so Dr. Rich gave him long-term painkillers and antibiotics."After a short time, the fish can breathe and swim again , " Rich said. According to Dr. Rich, goldfish have a lifespan of up to 30 years.
