Google Doodle celebrates the birthday of poet Xuan Quynh

Google Doodle today 6/10 honors poet Xuan Quynh, a Vietnamese female poet with much dedication to the country's literature.

Xuan Quynh, whose real name is Nguyen Thi Xuan Quynh (October 6, 1942- August 29, 1988) in Van Khe commune, Ha Dong town, Ha Tay province (now La Khe ward, Ha Dong district, Hanoi) , is a Vietnamese female poet.

She is considered to be a famous poet with many well-known poems such as: Boat and the Sea, Waves, Love poems at the end of autumn, Chicken noon . She was awarded the State Prize by the Vietnamese State. and Ho Chi Minh Prize for achievements in national literature.

Coming from a civil servant family, her mother died early, her father often worked away from her family, and she was raised by her grandmother until she was an adult.

In February 1955, Xuan Quynh was recruited to the Central People's Union Doan Van and trained as a dancer. She has performed abroad many times and attended the 1959 World Student Youth Conference in Vienna (Austria).

From 1962 to 1964, Xuan Quynh studied a school for fostering young writers (Session I) of the Vietnam Writers Association. After finishing studying, working at Van Nghe newspaper, Vietnam Women's newspaper. Xuan Quynh has been a member since 1967, member of the Executive Committee of Vietnam Writers Association Session III. In 1973, Xuan Quynh married the playwright, poet Luu Quang Vu, before that, Xuan Quynh married for the first time with a musician of the Central People's Union Doan Van and was divorced. From 1978 until his death, Xuan Quynh was an editor of the New Works Publishing House.

Xuan Quynh's poems are rich in emotions with different levels as Xuan Quynh's whole-hearted personality. Poems when passionate, painful, poet's thoughts are always close because they are written with the love of a woman who both writes poetry and wives and mothers. Many poems of Xuan Quynh have become famous such as Boats and the sea, Waves (written in 1967, printed in the volume of Flowers along the trenches in 1968), Flowers of the grass, Self-singing, Talking with him .

The poems Waves, Fairy Tales about the human race (Lullaby on the ground, New Works Publishing House, 1978) are included in popular textbooks of Vietnam.

Musician Phan Huynh Dieu successfully composed the poems: Boats and the Sea (April 1963), Poetry of late autumn of Xuan Quynh.

Xuan Quynh died on August 29, 1988 in a traffic accident at the beginning of Phu Luong Bridge, Hai Duong Town (now the city), Hai Duong Province, along with her husband Luu Quang Vu and his new son Luu Quynh Tho. 13 years old.

Xuan Quynh was awarded the 2001 State Prize for Arts and Literature.

On March 30, 2017, the late President Tran Dai Quang signed Decision No. 602 to officially award the Ho Chi Minh Prize for literature and arts to the late poet Xuan Quynh with two collections of poems: The Lullaby of the Earth and Bau. heaven in the egg.
