Green tea extract kills cancer tumors
British scientists have found that extract of green tea can cause nearly half of skin cancer tumors to disappear in humans, according to the Telegraph .
Green tea may reduce the risk of cancer
Green tea is thought to contain the anticancer agent and the extract, which is called epigallocatechin gallate , has also been tested before.
However, this is the first time scientists have successfully used this extract to treat cancer tumors in the laboratory.
Accordingly, the test results showed that after one month of treating a human skin cancer with green tea extract, the scientific community found that 40% of the tumor disappeared and another 30% of the tumor shrank.
Scientists leading the new study Christine Dufes said: 'We hope this encouraging research result will pave the way to finding ways to treat cancer more effectively.'
New research is published in the journal Nanomedicine.
