Heavy rain continues to cause heavy damage in Argentina

At least 48 people have been killed in La Plata city on April 2 and the morning of April 3 as a result of heavy rains in some of Argentina's recent days.

In less than 3 hours, the measured rainfall reached 300-400mm, causing half of the city to be flooded. There are places in the center of the city that rise up to 1.7m.

According to the National Meteorological Agency, this rain has the largest rainfall ever measured in La Plata, the capital city of Buenos Aires province.

Many people had to spend the night in cars, on trees or in the ceiling of flooded houses waiting to be rescued.

With the help of firefighters, soldiers and police, about 2,300 people were taken out of the flooded area.

The city hall of the city was also overrun by the country and fell into power outages and dehydration.

The city government has decided for school authorities and students to leave school. According to the governor of Buenos Aires Province, Daniel Scioli, this is a "unprecedented" disaster that the city of La Plata suffered.

In the face of serious damage to this unusual weather, President Cristina Fernández directly inspected the affected area to direct remedial action.

Ms. Fernández also decided on three days of national mourning to commemorate the victims of the disaster and the less than a day's heavy rain in Buenos Aires, killing at least eight people and affecting life. of about 450,000 people.
